Outreach Ministries
Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world. - James 1:27
HOSPITAL VISITATION
Our focus is to minister God’s grace to church members and their families through timely telephone calls and hospital visits. The Hospital Visitation Ministry works closely with the Morningside Church Pastoral Staff. This ministry also has a division that ministers to those church members and their families in Nursing Homes and Homebound.
Our Hospital Visitation volunteers are not expert counselors. We are Christ’s followers with a desire to show kindness to those faced with a hospitalizations or other medical procedures.
Jesus said in Matthew 25:36…"I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to me."

MINISTRY TO THE HOMELESS
There are currently over 1,400 citizens of Martin and St. Lucie Counties that are deemed homeless by the State of Florida. The number in St. Lucie County alone has skyrocketed by 69% in the last year.
There are many shelters, soup kitchens, and outreach centers that reach out to these hurting souls. Morningside’s Pack off my Back ministry seeks to come alongside these organizations, and reach out to those in need by providing these people with some of the most basic of necessities.
Imagine a team of volunteers, arriving at these outreach centers, carrying backpacks full of supplies: toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant, sunscreen, rain ponchos, band aids, and much more. Some of the most basic necessities that we take for granted, all packed in a backpack, and given away to someone in need.
These supplies, mainly toiletries, can be expensive when purchased commercially. We are currently seeking assistance with the procurement of these items. Your donation, in supplies or monetary form, will help us prepare more backpacks to help more of our fellow citizens in need.
MINISTRY TO THE WIDOWS
Our mission is simple. Every other month we select a few of the widows from our church and ask them if they would like to have breakfast or lunch with one of our pastors. While a few of these ladies enjoy a meal with one of our pastors, families in the church get to work on their yards, doing some exterior cleaning, and a few simple repairs when needed.
In December, 61 people came out to bless five of our widows.
Although these events are spearheaded by Family Ministries, these events are for all families and individuals in our church.
If you’d like to help live out James 1:27 by being involved in either of these two ministries please join the “Family Outreach and Missions” group on The City (morningside.onthecity.org). There you will find out more information and learn how you can be part of this great ministry. You can also contact Pastor Mike Howell at the church office or email him at mike@morningsidechurch.com.
