Sermon Notes | February 21-22, 2026

“But the LORD is in his holy temple; let all the earth be silent before him.”

Habakkuk 2:20 (NIV)

Sometimes when everything feels LOUD, faith looks like SILENCE.

“The LORD sits enthroned over the flood; the LORD is enthroned as king forever.”

Psalm 29:10 (NIV)

The CHAOS around us does not cancel the SOVEREIGNTY above us.

“A prayer of Habakkuk the prophet. On shigionoth.”

Habakkuk 3:1 (NIV)

Sometimes the most passionate, authentic praise is actually the PRAISE before the PROVISION. It’s praise that is simply based on faith. It’s praising God not for the WHAT, but for the WHO.

“LORD I have heard of your fame; I stand in awe of your deeds, LORD. Repeat them in our day, in our time make them known; in wrath remember mercy.”

Habakkuk 3:2 (NIV)

WHAT DO YOU DO WHEN YOU ARE IN THE VALLEY?

1. REMEMBER

“God came from Teman, the Holy One from Mount Paran. His glory covered the heavens and his praise filled the earth.”

Habakkuk 3:3 (NIV)

“I will remember the deeds of the LORD…”

Psalm 77:11 (NIV)

MEMORY fuels faith!

“…is the same yesterday, today, and forever.”

Hebrews 13:8 (NIV)

“His splendor was like the sunrise; rays flashed form his hand, where his power was hidden. Plague went before him; pestilence followed his steps. He stood, and shook the earth; he looked, and made the nations tremble…”

Habakkuk 3:4-6 (NIV)

We see God’s POWER on the mountain tops, but the valley shows us His HEART.

2. EMBRACE

“I heard and my heart pounded, my lips quivered at the sound; decay crept into my bones, and my legs trembled. Yet I will wait patiently for the day of calamity to come on the nation invading us. Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will be joyful in God my Savior.”

Habakkuk 3:16-18 (NIV)

Endurance SURVIVES. Embracing GROWS.

“The Sovereign LORD is my strength; he makes my feet like the feet of a deer, he enables me to tread on the heights…”

Habakkuk 3:19 (NIV)

Habakkuk’s CIRCUMSTANCES never changed, but his PERSPECTIVE did.

“Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you can be mature and complete, not lacking in anything.”

James 1:2-4 (NIV)

“Though he slay me, yet will I hope in him…”

Job 13:15 (NIV)
