There are Many Ways to God

Sermon Notes | June 6-7, 2026

“Jesus answered, ‘I am the way and the truth and life. No one comes to the Father except through me.’” John 14:6 (NIV)

“‘I and the Father are one.’ Again, the Jews picked up stones to stone him, but Jesus said to them, ‘I have shown you many great miracles from the Father. For which of these do you stone me?’ ‘We are not stoning you for any of these,’ replied the Jews, ‘but for blasphemy, because you, a mere man, claim to be God.’”

John 10:30-33 (NIV)

PUTTING JESUS TO THE TEST

1. Test the CREDIBILITY of Jesus.

Examine what people SAID about Jesus.

“‘What is truth?’ Pilate asked. With this he went out again to the Jews and said, ‘I find no basis for a charge against him [Jesus].’”

John 18:38 (NIV)

“When the centurion and those with him who were guarding Jesus saw the earthquake and all that happened, they were terrified, and exclaimed, ‘Surely he was the Son of God!’”

Matthew 27:54 (NIV)

Examine what JESUS did.

“…What’s this wisdom that has been given him, that he even does miracles?” Mark 6:2 (NIV)

Examine what GOD did.

“You killed the author of life, but God raised him from the dead. We are all witnesses of this.” Acts 3:15 (NIV)

2. Test the CHARACTER of Jesus.

“Can any of you prove me guilty of sin? If I am telling the truth, why don’t you believe me?” John 8:46 (NIV)

THREE OPTIONS:

Jesus is a LIAR

Jesus is a LUNATIC

Jesus is LORD

“I saw heaven standing open and there before me was a white horse, whose rider is called Faithful and True. With justice he judges and makes war. His eyes are like blazing fire, and on his head are many crowns. He has a name written on him that no one knows but he himself. He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood, and his name is the Word of God. The armies of heaven were following him, riding on white horses and dressed in fine linen, white and clean. Out of his mouth comes a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations. ‘He will rule them with an iron scepter.’ He treads the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God Almighty. On his robe and on his thigh he has this name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.”

Revelation 19:11-16 (NIV)
